Giraffe Manor is an exclusive boutique hotel, often referred to as one of the most instagrammed properties in the world, Giraffe Manor is set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi. Giraffe Manor is one of Nairobi’s most iconic buildings.
One of the most fascinating things about Giraffe Manor is its resident herd of Rothschild’s giraffes who may visit morning and evening, poking their long necks into the windows in the hope of a treat, before retreating to their forest sanctuary. The Rothschild’s species of giraffe was once highly endangered, but Giraffe Manor has long been part of a breeding programme which has successfully grown their numbers in the wild.
Accommodation
The hotel’s 10 rooms include three doubles: Betty, Lynn and Arlene; four double/twins: Daisy, Jock, Marlon and Helen; a twin/double/triple: Kelly; and two suites – the Finch Hatton Suite (double/twin/family) sleeping up to five (2 adults and 3 children), and the Karen Blixen Suite (also sleeping up to 5 – 2 adults and 3 children) which opens directly onto a courtyard and is perfect for families and wheelchair users.All guests enjoy full-board during their stay, which includes all meals and most drinks (house wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks), excluding champagne and specially imported wines and spirits.
Activities
From encounters with the world’s tallest mammal to exploring local culture, there’s plenty to keep you entertained during your stay, both within the manor’s grounds and in the local area. Relax within the manor’s grounds or explore the leafy surrounding suburbs which offer several acclaimed local craft centres and some lovely boutiques. Entrance fees to local attractions are additional.

Rates Includes: Arrival/departure transfers and transportation around the Karen & Langata area (included in the rate if the collection time is after 11:30 am on the day of arrival and prior to check out at 10:00 am on the day of departure), all meals, house wines, house soft drinks, house beers, house spirits, laundry, wireless internet access, entrance to the AFEW Giraffe Centre, Orchid House dining, boules, croquet and VAT.
Rates Excludes: Champagne, luxury spirits, selected wines, tips, health insurance, massage treatments and personal effects.
Children: Children are ages 3 to 11 years inclusive. 12 years and over is an adult. 2 years and under is an infant. Infants stay FOC. There is only a child sharing rate for the Superior Rooms at Giraffe Manor – this rate is the same whether they share the room in one of the beds or whether they are in an extra bed. Extra beds do not always fit, please see notes below and check with the office before booking. If a child is to be allocated to a single room, the rate charged is the FULL single room rate.
